6th April 2016 – Workshop Wednesday: Magic Materials
This Easter, become a Scientist and go mad for Materials at the Long Shop Museum – great for families!
Join in the fun with your family at our new Workshop Wednesdays and explore a variety of scientific topics through exciting experiments and interactive activities! We kick-off in the Easter holidays with the theme of “Magic Materials”, an exploration of the exciting world of every day materials and objects from the uses of copper to the secrets of chocolate! Become a scientist for the afternoon and explore the Long Shop Museum’s “Magic Materials Trail”, design your own light–up Copper Circuit City, investigate the properties of chocolate by making your own science themed treat, have a go at plaster casting or build your own electric conductor and discover how electrifying the Long Shop Museum really is!
Plus, look out for our exciting guests, the Tidal Margins artists, who will be helping visitors draw and create beautiful steel wire sculptures of our amazing fire and steam engines! This activity is funded by Touching the Tide; visitwww.touchingthetide.org.uk and www.tidalmargins.wordpress.com for more information.
There’s plenty to see at the museum to keep everyone entertained, from fascinating local history exhibits to colouring and games for younger visitors in our “Coglets Corner”. Light refreshments are available on-site or at a range of lovely, local outlets nearby. Or, bring your own picnic to enjoy in our wonderful garden!
