Sci-Fi & Action Exhibition 2016: Opening Weekend
Moyse’s Hall Museum's 8th annual Sci-Fi exhibition is running from Saturday 22 October – Sunday 13 November, and will feature more than 100 items of memorabilia from the world of Sci-Fi & Action; including special guests, original costumes, prop replicas, artwork, comics and more!
Come and help us celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Alien saga, 40th anniversary of the start of Star Wars filming and the 50th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise! On the opening weekend of this year’s exhibition (Saturday 22 & Sunday 23 October), you can meet Star Wars master prop maker Brian Muir, and Phoenix James, who played a First Order Stormtrooper in several key scenes in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. (Autograph signings – £15).
There will also be costume characters, face painting, refreshments available in the themed Cantina Bar, quizzes, activities, merchandise & more on the opening weekend! This year’s exhibition themes are ‘Look Sir, Droids’ (which celebrates 40 years of the start of filming of Star Wars – with a focus on some of the characters on Tatooine and the birth of one of the biggest franchises in cinema history) and ‘The Darker Side of Comics’ (30 years ago saw the release of ‘Batman – the Dark Knight returns’.
The exhibition looks at how the 80s changed the way we read about superheroes and its influence over modern day film adaptations). Original screen costumes will be once again on display during this year’s exhibition - ‘Superman: The Movie’ - Perhaps the most iconic movie costume of all time, Christopher Reeve’s Superman costume from the 1977 Richard Donner film ‘Superman: the Movie’ was designed by Yvonne Blake. - ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’ - This very rare complete Terminator outfit from James Cameron’s gamechanging action-blockbuster, ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ was worn by Arnold Schwarzenegger. The classic black leather motorcycle costume has become a pop culture icon. - ‘Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines’ - A complete costume designed by April Ferry and worn by the beautiful and deadly TX, played by Kristanna Loken.
This costume also features the prop TX arm, created by the legendary Stan Winston Studios.
