Best known as the historic Home of Racing, where the sport of horseracing as we know it today first evolved in the 17th century, Newmarket Racecourses is now the East of England’s greatest venue.
Not only is it the region’s greatest sporting venue, with two racecourses lying side by side just a short drive from Cambridge and staging some of Europe’s premier flat races, but it is also the region’s greatest outdoor music venue, the region’s greatest conference, meetings & events venue, the region’s greatest Christmas party venue and one of the region’s greatest venues for a fun, value-for-money, family day out.
Family favourites include:
Summer Saturday's Live: (two Summer Saturday afternoon's that combine a fun family entertainment with an afternoon's racing and an early evening concert)
Family Fun Days: (a selection of Saturday & Sunday afternoons when free kids’ entertainment and Rowley’s Kids Club activities run alongside the horseracing – children under 18 years are admitted free to all Newmarket race meetings except the Adnams Newmarket Nights and Summer Saturday's Live when a limited number of reduced price child tickets are available)
Christmas Parties: (the Rowley Mile is the home of the region’s biggest themed Christmas parties, offering companies, families and groups of friends the perfect way to celebrate the festive period).
The enclosures and stands
The type of ticket you buy will grant you access to different enclosures and stands. Some will give you a grandstand view of all the action on the course. Others provide more specialist views – of the finish line perhaps, or offering easy access to restaurants, bars and hospitality suites.
Nothing can beat the excitement of watching the race from the rails – the flashing colours and thundering hooves as the field races by is a moment to savour, especially if you can get near the finish line.
The paddock/parade ring
This is where the horses parade before each race. It' s your opportunity to get a good look at the runners before you place your bets.
The winner's enclosure
The best place to drink in the excitement and to savour the exhilaration of victory. This is where the winning horses are reunited with their owners and where the trophies are presented.
Prices vary according to the event. Please see the website or contact the venue for specific details.
