Ipswich Museum is hosting an Ask The Expert day next week and it’s an opportunity for the public to bring along their treasured objects and photographs, share their stories about them and find out a bit more.

Organiser Melanie Hollis, curator of the You Are Here! The Making of Ipswich exhibition, says the event will focus on local and social history. “We want people to bring in an artefact or photo which perhaps belonged to an ancestor or simply tell a story relating to their family or Ipswich’s history. We will have a panel of experts on hand to shed some more light on the objects and talk about some of the Museum’s fabulous local and social history collections.”

The experts providing help are from: Ipswich Society, Ipswich Building Society, Suffolk Family History Society, Martlesham Heath Aviation Society , Ipswich Town Football Club Fan Liaison Officer, Town Guides, GeoSuffolk, Record Office, Ipswich War Memorial Project, Urban Archaeological Database and Museum of Knots and Ropemaking.

Ask the Expert is on Valentine’s Day, Wednesday 14th February, so make sure you bring in something you love! The Museum in High Street is open from 10am to 3pm. Ask The Expert is a FREE drop-in event.
