The New Wolsey Theatre is gearing up for 2017 and you could join them if you are ages 7 to 22 years old!

Register your place today to audition to be part of the theatre’s Junior Youth Theatre, Senior Youth Theatre, or Young Company. Auditions will take place on Sat 7 January and Sun 8 January 2017 at the High Street Exhibition Gallery, High Street, Ipswich, IP1 3QH.

Previous productions by the critically acclaimed groups have included sell out runs of Sweeney Todd and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, and epic dramas including DNA, The Crucible and The Turn of the Screw. Our Senior Youth Theatre groups have recently taken on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and will perform a sold out week of Roald Dahl’s The Twits this December.

Junior Youth Theatre
For ages 7 – 11, groups meet weekly on Saturday mornings

Audition Date: Saturday 7th January 2017

Senior Youth Theatre
For ages 11 – 16, who want to develop their abilities as performers. The groups meet weekly on Tuesdays (11 to 15 year olds) and Wednesdays (15 & 16 year olds) during term time.

Audition Dates: Saturday 7th January 2017 (for 11 to 15 year olds) and Sunday 8th January 2017 (for 15 & 16 year olds)

Young Company
For young adults aged 16 – 22 who want to increase their skills and experience as theatre makers. Young Company is about finding your voice as an artist and making choices. We offer a programme of skills and training sessions combined with three annual productions, access to entry level employment and ongoing engagement with the industry to make a high quality platform for young artists. Groups meet weekly on Wednesdays and rehearse for specific projects on Sundays.
Audition Date: Sunday 8th January 2017

In addition to these groups, there is also the opportunity to take part in Youth Theatre Squared. Youth Theatre Squared is for young people with a disability or additional needs aged 11-20 who want to explore theatre making and develop their creativity. The group meets weekly on Mondays during term time. An informal chat with our practitioners who will share information about what to expect from the sessions will take place on Friday 6th January 2017.
