Bring on the Fling!

Written by MiriamSpall on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 - 10:39

Final Fling is a spectacular celebration of steam to mark the end of the season at The Long Shop Museum on Sunday 25th October. Be transported! The much loved shunting engine Sirapite will be in full steam and available for rides along with tractors and trailers travelling to and from nearby carparks throughout the day.  A range of small, working, stationery engines will be on show in our garden alongside a variety of working models across the museum including radio-controlled boats, aircraft and railway. More model behavior can be witnessed with a Chas Burrell model steam traction engine and mini threshing machine - and all the fun of the fair can be glimpsed through a working model fairground! Vintage vehicles include a 1949 double-decker bus from Bressingham and an Eastern Counties 1960s coach via which a cohort from Ipswich Transport Museum will arrive in style!  A member of the civil defenders home-from re-enactment group will be in site in home-guard kit. Visitors can also look around the Museum’s original Garrett Works buildings and see magnificent machines in the permanent collection. Refreshments will be available in the form of home-made cakes, hot soups and teas and coffees and there will be activities for children, a prize draw, and further attractions to be announced.  Don’t miss the Final Fling of 2015; It runs from 11am to 4pm as a static and moving pageant of engineering history. Ticket prices are £7.50 for adults, £6 for concessions and £3 for children from 4-16. Under 4s are free. Please note that promotions and annual passes will not be valid for entrance on event days.
