THE CURTAIN RISES FOR DICK WHITTINGTON!

Written by MiriamSpall on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 - 06:49

After three weeks of rehearsals, it is finally time for us to raise the curtain on this year’s pantomime, Dick Whittington. This fabulous family adventure sees our hero travel all the way from Boring St Yawning in Suffolk, via rat-infested London Town to Love Island aboard the Good Ship Leaking Lizzie, with plenty of sing-along songs and surprises along the way!

The dress rehearsal was attended by an invited audience of Theatre Royal’s highly treasured patrons and sponsors, as well as a good portion of the wonderful team of volunteers and stewards who help keep the theatre running. Here are a couple of early previews from those in attendance:

“Brilliant cast; laugh out loud funny; stunning set and great songs. Audiences in are in for a Christmas panto treat!”

“Fab dress rehearsal last night ... Rats, a cat, music, laughter, great line up and especially Jess Spalis doing a super job as Dick Whittington - well done all!”

So if you haven’t already got your hands on tickets, bagsy your berth on board the Leaking Lizzie and join the crew for the ride of a lifetime as Dick Whittington sets sail to find his fortune and save London Town from the rats! (Please note, some performances now have very limited availability).

The premiere was attended by schools and the laughter was echoing throughout the theatre, now the show will run up to Christmas and beyond, right through to Sun 14 Jan 2018. For a festive treat join us for the extra special Gala Performance, Sun 10 Dec at 2pm, with games and other goodies, perhaps even a visit from Santa himself. There will also be a BSL interpreted performance Wed 13 Dec at 2pm and a Relaxed Performance Fri 12 Jan at 1.30pm.

Give our lovely Box Office team a call on 01284 769505 or choose your seats online at www.theatreroyal.org. Better yet, come and see what Fairy Pearl has done to our theatre to give us an extra special sparkle for the season.
