Haverhill's Christmas activities

Haverhill Town Council’s Family Christmas Weekend is happening this year on Friday 2 December and Saturday 3 December.  The main events include late night shopping and charity stalls, the Christmas lights switch-on, a world market, a grand firework display on the Recreation Ground and an ice rink.

See below for a breakdown of what’s happening where.

Friday 2 December

10.00am – 8.00pm      Christmas World Market                  Queen Street

Alongside the regular street market there will be a range of hot and cold food to enjoy as well as a chance to buy some gifts and crafts.

5.00pm – 8.00pm        Craft and Gift Fair                              Haverhill Arts Centre

Come and find all sorts of present ideas not available in the shops.

5.30pm – 8.00pm        Late Night Shopping                         town centre

The shops will stay open to 8.00pm and the streets will be lined with charity stalls, fairground rides and street entertainers.

6.30pm                        Christmas Lights Switch-on              Market Square

Sue Hodge, Mimi La Bonq from ‘Allo, ‘Allo and star of this year’s panto at the Arts Centre, Robin Hood switches on the lights.

8.00pm                        Firework Display                                Recreation Ground

A spectacular display to light up the skies, gather around the Camps Road end of the Recreation Ground. Free, with a donations bucket.

Saturday 3 December

9.00am – 5.00pm        Christmas World Market                  Queen Street

9.30am – 3.30pm        Craft and Gift Fair                              Haverhill Arts Centre

10.30am – 4.30pm      Ice Rink                                               Market Square

All the family can join in and have a go at ice-skating on the rink beside St Mary’s Church. Free with a donations bucket.

Run a stall at Late Night Shopping Are you a member of a local organisation who wants to raise funds for your group?  Why not run a fundraising stall at Late Night Shopping?  It could be a tombola, lucky-dip or anything else you can come up with. Stalls must be booked in advance for a fee of£5.00. Collect a form from the Arts Centre or email, office@haverhill-tc.gov.uk

Town Centre road closures

Queen Street from 4.00pm on Thursday 1 December until 9.00pm on Saturday 4 December

High Street, Swan Lane, Camps Road & Peas Hill from 1.00pm to 12.00 midnight on Friday 2 December

Camps Road, Chauntry Road, Mill Road from 7.00pm – 9.00pm on Friday 2 December

Recreation Road from 7.30pm – 9.00pm on Friday 2 December
