Lots of holiday fun!
The school holiday is in full swing and there are a lot of fun events to keep the children amused over the next week.
If you like donkey rides, fairground and bouncy castles, head to Holywells Park on Wednesday 9th August for the latest Family Fun Day. This is followed on Wednesday 16th by an Active Family Fun Day, with a climbing wall, football and orienteering.
On Friday 4th and Wednesday 9th you can join the Horrible History Tour of the town, finding out about grave robbers, dirt and diseases and all the nasty stuff not taught in class! Suitable for children aged eight to 11. Meet at the Tourist Information Centre in St Stephen’s Church – you will need to book on 01473 258070. Tickets: £4 per child with one adult going free, additional adults pay £4.
Over at Ipswich Museum in High Street there are Steel Band Drumming Workshops on Tuesday 8th August at 11.30am and 2pm. £3.30 if you book online in advance at www.ipswichregent.com
The popular Show & Tell event returns to the Museum on Wednesday 9th. This free event gives youngsters an opportunity to take their “finds” along to discover what they actually are. 10am to 3pm – just turn up
At Christchurch Mansion on Thursday 10th there is a Pop-up Salon, where you can join Betty’s Rock & Rollers at a vintage salon to find out about real style! 10.30am, 1pm and 2.30pm – you will need to book. £3.30 if you do so online at www.ipswichregent.com. This is for children aged four and over.
If sport is your thing – look no further. Ipswich Borough Council’ssports centres and swimming pools offer family float sessions, bouncy play, football, archery, racquet sports and family roller-skating. These are popular events and many need to be booked in advance.

Entry to our museums is free – you can make a family day put by going to the Museum in High Street, taking a picnic to Christchurch Park and exploring the Mansion. The Museum and Mansion are open Tuesdays to Sundays. The park is also hosting the Ipswich summer beach!
