This autumn Haverhill Arts Centre is proud to announce the introduction of Autism Friendly cinema screenings. The Arts Centre will pilot the scheme in partnership with Leading Lives, the charity for adults with learning and physical disabilities, including autism. The first two shows will be Inside Out (U) on Thursday 5 November at 10.00am by Pan (PG) on Thursday 3 December at 10.00am. The Autism Friendly screenings are open to everyone but there will be certain things that are slightly different from traditional cinema screenings. For example, the auditorium will not be so dark, the sound level will be lower and there could be more noise and movement from the audience. Nick Keeble Arts and Leisure Manager for Haverhill Town Council (which runs the Arts Centre) said ‘We have been thinking about doing screenings like this for some time so it’s great to be able to team up with experts Leading Lives to make sure we’re doing it right. We hope that it becomes a regular feature of our cinema programme so that we can give more people more chances to watch some really great films. ‘ Tickets are £3.50, to book go to the Arts Centre website, www.haverhillartscentre.co.uk or call 01440 714140
