Spring may feel like it’s been a long time coming but the Long Shop Museum in Leiston will reopen in style by launching the 2016 season on Saturday 266h March with a fantastic steam and activity day from 10am-5pm.
Once the world’s first purpose built workshop for assembly line production, the museum contains a fantastic collection of machines and many of these will be demonstrated in all their working glory at our Spring Steam Up event.
There will be large and small engines in steam, including our very own ‘Sirapite’ shunting engine and the debut appearance of our recently renovated ‘Consuello Allen’ who will make a grand entrance! We are also rather excited that our partially reassembled portable engine will be unveiled.
Live music will be provided and there will also be a a variety of hands-on activities for those of all ages and interests. Tea, coffee and scrumptious home made cakes will be available throughout the day, with lovely home-made soup available at lunchtime.
No need to book – just come along! The admission price for this event will be £8 for adults and £4 for children and this will entitle all ticketholders to free museum admission for a full year, except during special event days such as Final Fling and the Suffolk Steampunk Spectacular.
From Tuesday 22nd March the Museum will be open 7 days per week throughout the school Easter holidays –10-5 Mon-Sat, 11-3 on Sundays. Join us in the Easter Holidays for our family trail for only 50p. Help the chicks find their corn and receive your chocolate treat!
